Baku / 02.03.20 / Turan: On March 1, the Turkish armed forces destroyed a military airfield of the Syrian government forces in the Neyrab region of Aleppo province. This military facility in the suburbs of Aleppo was actively used by Assad forces to organize attacks on the settlements of the de-escalation zone. The strike on the airfield was struck on Saturday by UAV strike and Turkish artillery, Anadolu agency reported.
After the Turkish Armed Forces destroyed the airfield of Kuweiras in the east of Aleppo, the Assad forces command transferred all aircraft to the airfield in the Neyrab area. According to local sources, the failure of airfields in northwestern Syria will significantly narrow down the ability to maneuver Assad’s forces.
On the same day, the Turkish Air Force shot down two Su-24 bombers of the Syrian government forces. Turkish Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar announced earlier today that the Spring Shield operation was being carried out in the Idlib de-escalation zone. He noted that Turkey does not pursue the goal of armed confrontation with Russia in Syria.
Late in the evening of March 1, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that it did not guarantee the security of the Turkish air force in the sky over Syria, and the Assad government declared the airspace in Idlib a no-fly zone.
It should be noted that earlier Russia transferred to Syria S-300 air defense systems, which are capable of suppressing aviation flights in this zone. However, the Russian military manages these systems.-02D-
