UN and Azerbaijan Sign Agreement on Cooperation until 2020
On July 12 the head of the UN Office in Azerbaijan Gulam Isakzai and Azerbaijan’s Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev signed a framework agreement on cooperation for 2016-2020.
The UN will assist in carrying out reforms in Azerbaijan, Isakzai said at the signing ceremony. The government is implementing reforms and preparing a strategy to diversify the economy, and the UN is ready to contribute to it. "Our contribution includes policy advice and expertise. We can help in the development of agriculture, health and other spheres," Isakzai said.
In turn, Mustafayev noted that the new program covers three areas: the promotion and diversification of the economic development, the strengthening and effectiveness of public and social services; and modernization of environmental management.
The framework program pays special attention to the expansion of e-services, the creation of industrial zones and neighborhoods, increase in the role of young people and others. -02D-
