US Ambassadors to South Caucasus met in Baku
Baku/28.04.22/Turan: The U.S. Ambassadors to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia met in Baku on April 28.
The U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan reports that Ambassadors Lee Liezenberger (Azerbaijan), Kelly Degnan (Georgia) and Lynn Tracy (Armenia), Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Erica Olson, Andrew Schofer, State Department Chief Counselor for Caucasus Negotiations and Greg Naarden, acting Coordinator for Europe and Eurasia, attended the regional meeting of the heads of the American diplomatic missions.
"Yerevan, Baku and Tbilisi have held similar events before. Colleagues from the region and Washington gathered to exchange views and information. As the United States celebrates 30 years of diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening our partnership and ensuring a safer, more stable, and more prosperous future for the people of the South Caucasus," the U.S. Embassy said in a statement posted on its facebook account.-03D06-

On November 26, the Baku Court of Appeals heard a complaint regarding the extension of the detention of former diplomat Emin Ibrahimov. During the hearing, the investigator requested that the complaint be rejected, while Ibrahimov's lawyer, Aghil Laidj, pointed out the lack of grounds for keeping Ibrahimov in custody.

Arrested economist Fazil Gasimov has reportedly faced pressure after protesting the interruption of a phone call with his family on November 16. "The phone call was cut off, and Fazil demanded that the connection be restored. Then, Jalal Alizadeh, a detention center officer, along with his colleagues, forcibly removed Fazil from the phone room in the medical unit of the facility, tearing his jacket and dragging him across the floor before throwing him into a cell.
