US Deputy Ambassador’s Car Damaged in Armed Clash
An armed incident took place at the restaurant Bulag in the Badamdar settlement of Baku on 21 April in the evening. During the shooting, two people were wounded. The conflict was caused by a debt dispute.
According to a source in the Sabail district police, the pistol fire was opened by a man named Samir, seriously wounding a resident of Astara Farid Akbarov and a Baku resident Suleiman Abdullayev.
According to reports, information about the shootout was reported to the Sabail district police by the Deputy US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Derek Hogan. Hogan’s car was parked in front of the restaurant Bulag, where the residence of the US Ambassador is situated. One of the bullets hit the car of the embassy, but the driver inside was not injured, the police source said.
At the request of Turan IA, the US Embassy confirmed the shooting at the embassy’s vehicle. A source at the embassy said that the bullet was a stray, and Hogan was not in the vehicle at the time of the shooting. No one was injured. Police are investigating the case and all questions relating to the incident should be directed to them. -02B-
