
US Senate confirms Richard Morningstar as ambassador to Azerbaijan
The US Senate on its floor wrapped up for Friday before leaving town discharged the Foreign Relations Committee and confirmed Richard L. Morningstar to be next Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Turan's Washington DC correspondent was informed by a Senate source.
Besides Morningstar the senators have also confirmed ten more ambassadorial nominees to countries such as Burma, Gambia, Nepal, Mongolia, Micronesia, Equatorial Guinea, Maldives, Mozambique, Suriname and Tajikistan.
President Obama nominated Ambassador Morningstar in April to the position of US Ambassador to Azerbaijan. Just two weeks ago the Senate Committee has confirmed his nomination.
The new Ambassador will start his mission in the coming weeks.
