Violence in jail 17 against Hilal Mamedov
Violence was committed against Hilal Mamedov in jail N17 of the Prison Service after he was brought from the Kurdakhan jail on January 23.
The committee to Protect Hilal Mamedov told Turan that the prison administration put pressure on him, forcibly shaved his head, took away his medication , documents, and deprived of drinking water. They threatened Mamedov that if he demands his rights they will treat him very badly.
Mamedov lawyers prepare a lawsuit against the prison administration.
Editor of "Tolyshi Sado" Mammadov was sentenced to five years in prison September 27 in accordance with the decision of the Baku Serious Crimes Court.
He was arrested on June 21, 2012 on charges of spying for Iran under the Articles 274 (treason) , 283.2.2 ( incitement of ethnic and religious hatred,) and 234.4.3 (illegal possession and distribution of drugs.)
International human rights and media organizations recognized Mamedov prisoner of conscience, and demand his immediate release. -0-
