White House: U.S., EU To Step Up Efforts To Undermine Russia’s War Machine
Washington D.C./25.10.23/Turan: The United States and EU are stepping up their joint efforts to undermine Russia’s ability to wage its war in Ukraine and to maintain an expanded defense industrial base and capacity, senior Biden administration officials told reporters on Tuesday, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
The new efforts will include: reaching to those who help Russia acquire items or equipment for its defense industrial base; reaching to companies supplying certain critical raw materials and other high-priority items to Russia’s defense industrial base; as well as reaching to financial institutions and other entities facilitating such transfers, as the White House National Security Council (NSC) officials put it.
"I think this is going to be a real focus of our joint work together between now and the end of the year," said Mike Pyle, deputy national security advisor for International Economics.
NSC Senior Director for Europe Amanda Sloat added that based on a joint agreement that was reached during Washington summit last week, the U.S. and the EU are taking some additional steps together to undermine Russia’s ability to wage its war and to maintain and expand its defense industrial base and capacity.
"Gven Russia’s continued failure to abide by international law and its attempts to collapse Ukraine’s economy, we and our partners, including the EU, are convening our experts to explore options to compensate Ukraine in a timely manner for the damage that Russia has caused," she said.
