Why was Emin Milli arrested?
During Saturday's rally in Baku, in the park Sahil the former political prisoner and civic activist Emin Milli was arrested by police. This happened after a conversation in front of dozens of policemen, protesters and passers-by.
The police stopped the activist and asked where he was going. He called on the Azerbaijani police to join the protesters. "You know, that corrupt officials have taken more than AZN 40 billion out of the country. Join us, who are demanding the answer," he said.
The police response resulted from an indication of one of them to arrest Milli. When he was led to a police car, he began shouting, "Hurrah, the police are also with us, we go to Ismayilli". This infuriated the police even more.
At the same time, the well-known journalist and civil society activist Khadija Ismayilova also called on the police to join the protesting people and take away their weapons, but he was also arrested.
Later, the court arrested Milli for 15 days, and Ismayilova was fined 400 manats.-23B-
