Why was Shakhtakhtinsky dismissed?
The termination of the mandate of Alexis Shakhtakhtinsky at the head office of the OSCE Project Coordinator in Baku acquired political overtones and aggravated relations between Azerbaijan and the West. "Offended" by the comment of Shakhtakhtinsky, which was considered a "friend" of Baku, the Azerbaijani authorities have decided to close the OSCE office at all.
Meanwhile, it became known from diplomatic sources, the reasons for the actual dismissal of Shakhtakhtinsky, which have nothing to do with politics. The decision to dismiss him was taken after an internal investigation of the OSCE. The reason for the investigation became the complaint against misconduct of a diplomat.
According to the same sources, the talk is about sexual harassment in the office employee, a married woman. Just after the women's complaints an internal investigation began, and lasted for several months.
The investigation confirmed that the diplomat violated the Code of Ethics in the organization. However, the OSCE did not give it publicity. By the way, the OSCE dismissed also the predecessor of Shakhtakhtinsky, who was accused of renting accommodation in a building belonging to corrupt official.
Turan agency appealed to the OSCE headquarters for comment, but there was no answer. This silence further strengthens suspicions of reliable information about the dismissal of the head of the OSCE Office for the above reason.
It is also noteworthy that the French Foreign Ministry, represented by Shakhtakhtinsky in the OSCE did not support the extension of powers of Shakhtakhtinsky after May 31, 2015. -06A-
