A. Aylisli does not rule out his leaving the country because of calls for violence against him
"Those who unleash such people as Hafiz Hajiyev destroy morality of the Azerbaijani people," the writer Akram Aylisli told Turan, commenting on the controversial call of the head of the party Modern Musavat Hafiz Hajiyev to cut off the writer's ear for 10 thousand manats.
"In normal countries, law enforcement agencies would have brought to justice those who make such statements. However, in our state the police have not expressed an attitude to this man's delusional statements for many years," the writer said.
Aylisli appealed through Turan to law enforcement bodies to ensure his safety. "If law enforcement agencies do not take effective action, I will have to leave the country with my family," said the writer.
Aylisli was subjected to harassment by pro-government media, politicians, and civil society organizations following the publication of the novel Stone Dreams about the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. This work led to a critical reaction in Azerbaijani society due to the sided coverage of the events.
Aylisli was stripped of the title of national writer and presidential pension, and his son and wife were fired from their jobs. Aylisli rejects charges that he put the blame for the conflict on the Azerbaijanis. -03B06-
