Gambar: Azerbaijanis of Iran should have strategy
The head of the National Center for strategic thought, Isa Gambar, condemned the insulting of Azerbaijani Turks on Iranian TV channel. "Harassment is unacceptable, especially harrasssment of the whole nation, and especially on television, which is watched by millions," Gambar said in an interview with Turan and the radio station "Voice of America".
Protests of the Iranian Azerbaijanis did not cause a resonance in Azerbaijan and found no support from compatriots in the north. What are the reasons? Answering this question, Gambar said they should not say that there was a resonance in Azerbaijan. These developments are being seriously discussed, particularly in the media and social networks. It was the reaction of political parties and social movements, although the official Baku has not expressed any reaction.
"This is regrettable. Although the authorities in Baku leaders declare themselves $50 million of the Azerbaijani people, in this case, they were silent. Very often, they do demonstrate shyness before the Moscow and Tehran regime," said Gambar. Referring to the ways to protect the rights of Iranian Azerbaijanis, Gambar said about the necessity of steps in the human rights context.
"This is possible by means of applications, appeals, collection of signatures for petitions. It is necessary to strengthen the work with international organizations.
As far as I know, a group of young people tried to hold a protest action in front of Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan. Using all forms of protest, we must demand the release of all political prisoners in Iran," said Gambar.
"Democracy is the value not recognizin borders. Human rights must be defended everywhere. We must protect the rights of all political prisoners, so that the world pay attention to the problems of Azerbaijan. These are the problems of tens of millions of Azerbaijanis living all over the world, especially the 30 million Azerbaijani Turks in Iran," continued Gambar.
"I know that millions of Azeri Turks of Iran, fighting for their rights, are self-sacrificing people. Over the years, they are fighting for their rights, demonstrating the courage." According to him, Iran makes attempts to take programed, strategic steps in the fight for the rights of the Azerbaijanis.
"The protests should not be a reaction to the insult on TV or in the press. People must act on the basis of the strategy. I am sure that Azerbaijani Turks will do it. The future of Iran should guide the democratically-minded people, regardless of nationality. The national struggle must become a part of the struggle for a democratic future. I want our brothers in Iran to remember it," concluded Gambar.-06D-
