11 Azerbaijani citizens returned from Syria
Baku/19.05.23/Turan: On May 18, Azerbaijan repatriated 11 of its citizens who were held in camps in Syria (8 women and three children), the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported on May 19.
Before repatriation, the location, identity and citizenship of these persons were established, and then measures were taken to transfer them from Syria to Turkey.
Further, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Turkey provided these persons with travel documents for returning to their homeland and air tickets.
At the next stage, the government plans measures for social rehabilitation and reintegration of these persons into society, the Foreign Ministry said.
*420 citizens, including 388 children and 32 women, have been repatriated to Azerbaijan from Syria and Iraq in recent years.
Recently, 121 Azerbaijani women imprisoned in Iraq declared their innocence and expressed their desire to return to Azerbaijan. -06D-
