2% of newborns in Azerbaijan have hereditary diseases
"The value of early diagnosis of genetic diseases in newborns" is the theme of today's conference at the Republican Perinatal Center (ROC). The event was organized jointly with the Republican medical-diagnostic center (RMDC), reporters were told by the chief pediatrician Nasib Guliyev, in Azerbaijan 2% of infants are born with hereditary diseases, while 0.6% have a chromosomal disease. In the stillborn and miscarriage this rate is higher, from 5.6 to 11% and 50-70%. These diseases are hereditary, they are carriers of chromosomes and genes, Guliyev said. -06D-
