After Second Karabakh War, 9,584 Mines and 7,081 Unexploded Ordnance Cleared
Baku/19.03.21/Turan: From the period after September 27, 2020 to the present day, 1,586 hectares of territory have been surveyed, where 9,584 anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, as well as 7,081 unexploded shells, have been neutralized. This is stated in the message of March 19 of the National Agency for Mine Action of Azerbaijan.
Demining was carried out on the territory of Aghdam, Fizuli, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Gubadli and Terter regions, as well as in the city of Shusha.
Currently, mine clearance is carried out along the Barda-Agdam railways, Horadiz-Zangilan, as well as the Sugovushan-Talish-Tapgaragoyunlu and Fizuli-Shusha highways.
Demining is also carried out along new high-voltage power lines from Fizuli to Shusha and from Aghdam to Terter and the village of Sugovushan.
Also, cleaning of the territory is carried out on the sown areas in Aghdam, Gubadli and Zangilan.
In turn, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian peacekeepers cleared 1,690 hectares, 525 kilometers of roads, 1,613 residential buildings, including 30 social facilities. At the same time, 25,237 mines and explosives were neutralized.
According to experts, more than 100,000 mines have been buried on the territory of Azerbaijan, most of which are buried in the low-lying zones of Terter, Aghdam and Fizuli.
Note that so far more than 40 people have been blown up by mines and killed or injured, most of them civilians. -03D-

On January 29, municipal elections were held in Azerbaijan, with over 16,000 candidates participating across 118 constituencies. The Central Election Commission (CEC) has already announced the names of the leading candidates on its website.
