Ata Abdullayev will go to prison for 9 years?
Baku/21.12.21/Turan: The trial in the case of scandalous video blogger Ata Abdullayev, presided over by judge Fikret Garibov, is coming to an end at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.
Today the prosecutor proposed to sentence Abdullayev, who is accused of extortion by threats, to 9 years of imprisonment.
The lawyer of the defendant said that he was not ready to speak and the judge scheduled the next meeting for December 28.
According to the indictment, Abdullayev extorted money from officials and businessmen by threatening to publish compromising information on social media.
Abdullayev is known as a performer of provocations against opposition politicians and other government critics. He was regularly engaged in public scuffles and insulted opposition figures. As a result of one such provocation, opposition journalist Tazakhan Miralamli had been was sentenced to correctional work two years ago. -06В-
