Azerbaijan joins Torino process on vocational education and training
Azerbaijan has recently started applying a policy analysis mechanism on vocational education and training (VET), also known as the Torino Process. An official launch of the mechanism took place in April, when the country’s Ministry of Education also announced the government’s approval of the new VET Agency. This new body will be responsible for the coordination of vocational education policy development and its implementation in the country, the European Training Foundation (ETF) reported.
The Torino Process was launched in 2010 to serve as the vehicle for the ETF to engage participating countries to improve VET. It is a bi-annual participatory analytical review of the status and progress of vocational education and training in the ETF partner countries. The objective of the Torino Process is twofold: to acquire up-to-date knowledge about the policies and their results in a country; and to strengthen the ownership, participation and evidence-base of policy making to improve the performance of policies.
The European Training Foundation is an agency of the European Union established to contribute to the development of the education and training systems of the EU partner countries. With an annual budget of EUR 18 million, its mission is to help transition and developing countries to harness the potential of their human capital through the reform of education, training and labour market systems in the context of the EU's external relations policy. -02D-
