Azerbaijan - one of the leaders in number of imprisoned journalists
Baku/18.12.13/Turan : Located in the U.S., Committee to Protect Journalists issued a list of countries in which there is the highest number of journalists arrested in 2013 (http://www.cpj.org/ru/2013/12/post-49.php)
Turkey leads the list, with 40 media workers arrested. Second and third place are taken by Iran (35 arrested ) and China ( 32).
According to the report this year, totally in the world 211 journalists are under arrest.
Azerbaijan in this list is among the top ten (along with Eritrea, Vietnam. Syria, Ethiopia, Egypt and Uzbekistan) .
CPJ believes that the arrest of journalists for the fulfillment of their professional duties is unacceptable and is a major concern .
In Azerbaijan , according to the Institute for Media, 10 journalists and 3 bloggers are under arrest.

An operation at Istanbul Airport has revealed an incident that could strain diplomatic relations.
