Azerbaijani Citizen Easily Affected by Earthquake in Nepal
The Azerbaijani embassy in India is being in contact with the Azerbaijani citizens in Nepal, where on Saturday there was a strong earthquake. This was announced by Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Hikmet Hajiyev.
According to preliminary information, in Nepal there are 14 Azerbaijani citizens, including 6 children. None of them was seriously affected. One young child received minor injuries and his state of health is good now, Hajiyev said.
The Azerbaijani embassy in India, within the scope of accreditation also including Nepal, is closely monitoring the situation, he added.
On Saturday morning, an earthquake of magnitude 7.9 occurred in Nepal. As of Sunday morning, the death toll exceeded 2 thousand people. -0-

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
