President Ilham Aliyev approved the "State Program on the use of the Azerbaijani language in the context of globalization, in accordance with the requirements of the times and the development of linguistics in the country."
The program is aimed at improving the care of the state in the use and application of the Azerbaijani language, the use of it in accordance with the requirements of globalization, the radical improvement of research in the field of linguistics, etc.
The program provides for measures to enhance quality of training in the field of linguistics, the introduction of teaching in the universities' culture of speech "educational measures on the proper use of the Azerbaijani language in government and the media, the establishment of appropriate advice in TV, creating a national terminological system based on international standards, development of new spelling, sensible, and idiomatic terminology, translation dictionaries of the Azerbaijani language, etc.
It is also expected to develop a common information base as the state language of Azerbaijan, the implementation of measures to prevent the improper use of the language in the names of streets, advertising posters and creation of a hotline to respond rapidly to such cases, provision of placards in the Azerbaijani language on imported goods.
It also provides the intensification of work on comparative phonetics, vocabulary and grammar of the Turkic languages, the implementation of joint projects involving the general alphabet, vocabulary and literary language. -06D-
