Among those detained in the case of the methanol poisoning with the so-called Hawthorn liquid, there are no manufacturers of the surrogate, but mostly sellers, said Interfax.
“Among the detainees there are owners of the stalls that traded the alcohol-containing liquid and the sellers - mostly women and children, who were not tried before, and there are even drivers. There is not a single manufacturer,” the representative of the judiciary of Irkutsk said.
Among the detainees there are natives of Azerbaijan. In court they have requested interpreters, he said. A total of 13 people were detained.
According to the Ministry of Health of the Irkutsk region, 74 people have already died from the methanol (‘Hawthorn’) poisoning. In total 122 people were poisoned, with 31 currently in hospital. -02D-
