Bakhtiyar Hajiyev has stopped his hunger strike
Baku/28.02.23/Turan: Activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, who had been on hunger strike for 51 days, decided to stop the action on February 28, his lawyer Agyl Laidj told Turan.
"Bakhtiar took into account numerous appeals from family members, friends and the public and from now on will continue his struggle in the legal field," the lawyer said.
* Bakhtiar Hajiyev was arrested on December 9 last year on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. On the same day, the Khatai District Court arrested him for 1 month and 20 days.
On December 15, Hajiyev went on a hunger strike demanding his release. He stopped his hunger strike on December 28 after persistent calls from members of the public and family members. But on January 9, after the Court of Appeal refused to release him from custody, he resumed his hunger strike, which continues to this day.
On January 21, the court extended Hajiyev's term of imprisonment for another month, and on February 23, the Khatai court extended the term of arrest for another 2 months – on April 28.
The courts did not satisfy numerous petitions of lawyers to change Hajiyev's extreme measure of restraint to house arrest or release on bail before the start of the judicial investigation. ---03B---

The Business Continuity test of Azercell's CMG project was conducted in the Alat Free Economic Zone. A real-time Business Continuity test of the CMG – Crisis Management Group of Azercell, which is a leading mobile operator in the country, was conducted in the Alat Free Economic Zone. For implementation of the first tests Azercell was partnering with Azercosmos, Aztelekom, and Baktelecom. During the simulation, a crisis was created by completely cutting off communication in the designated area. Technical teams from the regions arrived at the scene during the crisis drill, initiating efforts to restore communication. Initially, groups installed two mobile Base Stations in the area, providing 2G service to a limited number of subscribers using facilities of the national satellite. In the next stage, high-speed internet, 3G, and 4G networks were restored, and the area was equipped with 100-megabit Wi-Fi service. It's worth noting that in comparison to previous tests, the recovery time was reduced by half in this simulation test. All mentioned recovery operations were carried out by teams from the regions and the groups of experts specially trained by Azercell.
