Bayram Mamedov starts a hunger strike in jail
Baku / 23.06.17 / Turan: NİDA activist Bayram Mammadov started a hunger strike in prison No.13 on July 23, where he is serving his sentence, said Turan Mammadov, the father of the activist. According to him, Bayram called home and said that he began a hunger strike in protest against the conditions of detention. The activist will provide an official letter about this to the leadership of the jail.
Bayram protested against placing him in a room near the toilet. The head of the jail promised to change the place after the release of other beds, but he did not do so.
Bayram said that the administration released the vacated places to prisoners for money.
In turn, in the Penitentiary Service, Turan agency was told that Mamedov was provided with living conditions in accordance with Article 91 of the Penal Enforcement Code.
* Bayram Mammadov and Giyas Ibrahimov were arrested on May 10 after they wrote political slogans on the monument to Heydar Aliyev. They were charged with illegal large-scale drug trafficking, and sentenced each to 10 years in prison. -03B06-
