Blogger’s Appeal to Be Considered on January 31
Consideration of the appeal by the blogger Mehman Huseynov will be held on January 31, Turan was told by his lawyer Elchin Sadigov.
The appeal will be considered at the Baku Court of Appeal chaired by Judge Mirpasha Huseynov.
The complaint was filed in connection with the fine of 200 manat in the form of punishment for not obeying police. This decision was made by the Nasimi District Court on January 10.
After the court the blogger told reporters that he was kidnapped on January 9 in the center of Baku by men in plain clothes and taken to Nasimi police, where they tortured him. The lawyer filed a complaint of torture with the prosecutor's office.
In turn, the Ministry of Interior has denied the use of torture, and has accused the blogger of defamation. -05B06--
