The Bilasuvar District Court on December 22 sentenced the brother of the journalist Gunel Mevlut, Vekil Imanov, to 1 year in prison on charges of drug trafficking, Imanov’s family reported.
Recall that Imanov and his brother Raji Imanov were arrested on 13 October, respectively in Bilasuvar and Sumgait. They suffered because of the journalistic activities of their sister, Mevlut believes.
Mevlut is abroad and cooperates with Meydan.TV on the Internet. This channel’s representatives have repeatedly been subjected to pressure by law enforcement agencies. Mevlut is known for articles critical of the authorities. --03B06-

As part of the struggle against illegal migration in Baku city, operative actions were carried out at different addresses. The Interior Ministry reports that employees of the Department for Combating Illegal Migration identified and detained 34 foreigners without documents giving the right to reside and stay on the territory of Azerbaijan.
