Health of Anar Mammadli , a lawyer and the head of the Elections Monitoring and Democracy Studies Center, who is kept in jail N 13 deteriorated. Anar Mammadli was arrested on December 17, 2013 and sentenced to five and a half years in prison for illegal business activities, abuse of office and tax evasion. On December 10, 2014 Baku Appeal Court upheld the verdict. Amnesty International Organization delared Anar Mammadli a prisoner of conscience. He was awarded a prestigious international prize named after Vaclav Havel. The real reason for the arrest and conviction of Mammadli, according to human rights activists, ecame his participation in the election monitoring in Azerbaijan, which proved the falsification of the results and denounced the direct involvement of the authorities in these processes. -06D-
