The Chief of the Public Security Department of the Interior Ministry, Major General Javanshir Mammadov has been dismissed by age.
Mammadov worked in this position for 15 years. He was in the Ministry of Internal Affairs from 1976. In different years he was the Deputy Chief of the Police Department of Baku, the Chief of the Garadagh District Police Office and, from 1994, he worked in the Public Security Department of the Interior Ministry. -16D-

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
