Committee to Protect Civil Society Visits Intigam Aliyev and Rashad Hasanov in Penitentiary №6
The members of the Committee to Protect Civil Society Mehman Aliyev, Elshan Hasanov and Avaz Zeynalli visited Penitentiary №6 of the Penitentiary Service for the purpose of visiting the prisoners - human rights defender Intigam Aliyev and member of the youth organization NIDA Rashad Hasanov.
The meeting did not take place due to the fact that they had been visited by their family members before and according to the rules of the Prison Service, meetings with prisoners are allowed every 15 days.
Members of the Committee had a conversation with the deputy head of the institution and asked Elkhan Amirov about the conditions of detention, in particular, Intigam Aliyev and Rashad Hasanov.
Amirov said that conditions of detention comply with the legislation and regulations of the Prison Service. Each room is home to 40 inmates, and there are TV, radio and printed media. But on the question of how to ensure the delivery of the newspapers Yeni Musavat and Azadlig to the inmates, Amirov was unable to answer. The newspapers, despite the legal requirement, are not supplied.
Intigam Aliyev and Rashad Hasanov were given information about the arrival of members of the Committee and also presented sweets brought by the Committee.
Prison №6 promised to create conditions for a meeting with the prisoners, which could take place before the end of October.
The Chairwoman of the Committee Arzu Abdullayeva said it is also planned to visit other political prisoners in various penitentiaries. In Azerbaijan, according to human rights organizations, there are about at least 80 political prisoners and prisoners of conscience. -0-

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
