Court of Appeal to Consider Complaint of PFPA Activist Asif Yusifli
Baku / 09.07.19 / Turan: The Baku Court of Appeal held a preliminary hearing on the case of Asif Yusifli, a member of the Presidium of the Supreme Majlis of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA).
He filed a complaint about the refusal of parole, and the hearings are scheduled for July 22.
Karabakh war invalid Asif Yusifli was detained on November 25, 2014 on charges of fraud (article 178) and forgery of documents (article 320).
On July 30, 2015, the court convicted and sentenced him to 7.5 years in prison. Subsequently, the Supreme Court reduced the sentence to 6 years.
On May 29, 2019, the Surakhani District Court rejected the application of Yusifli for release on parole due to his serving three fourths of the term. Human rights activists recognize him as a political prisoner. -21C-
