CPCS Outlined Action Plan for Protection of Civil Society
On Tuesday, a meeting of the Committee for Protection of Civil Society (CPCS) discussed the difficult situation in which independent NGOs in Azerbaijan are.
The head of the monitoring of political prisoners Elshan Hasanov told Turan the meeting was attended by Gubad Ibadoglu, Arzu Abdullayeva, Aytekin Imranova, Nasrullah Nurullayev, Ali Abbasov, Akif Gurbanov, Ruslan Izzetli, Alasgar Mammadli and Dilara Efendiyeva.
At the suggestion of Ibadoglu the action plan was adopted for the protection of civil society.
It was decided Mammadli will prepare a report of pressure on the institutions of civil society and public awareness about the pressure on NGOs. They also recognized the necessity of CPCS members' participation in trials of activists.
The next meeting will be held on 21 January. -06D--
