Defendant in Nardaran Events Bunyadov Released Due to Severe Illness

One of the defendants in the "Nardaran case" Abulfaz Bunyadov has been released from custody in connection with a serious illness. In regard to the bedridden Bunyadov they have just changed the measure of restraint, but they have not terminated the criminal case. The lawyer Yalcin Imanov told Turan.

On November 26, 2015 a special operation in Nardaran was held by police in the house of Abulfaz Bunyadov, which hosted a religious ceremony. During the raid 4 civilians were killed, including two cousins of ​​Abulfaz Bunyadov, Rafael and Faraeel Bunyadov. Another of his cousins is in detention. Abulfaz Bunyadov himself received gunshot wounds and lost the ability to move. Furthermore, paralyzed he was kept in a closed hospital of the Justice Ministry for prisoners for more than a year. Due to the fact that it was impossible to take him to court, Abulfaz Bunyadov’s criminal case was investigated in a separate proceeding from the criminal case regarding the leader of the movement Muslim Unity Taleh Bagirzade and other 17 defendants.

In the course of a special operation in Nardaran on November 26, 2015 six people were killed in the shooting, including two policemen. Total on the case the charges were brought against 80 people, mostly members and supporters of the movement Muslim Unity. They are accused under a number of articles of the Criminal Code: attempt to forcibly change the constitutional system, the creation of an organized armed criminal group and others.

Currently, the Serious Crimes Court in Baku holds the trial of 18 accused in the case. Among them is the deputy chairman of PFPA Fuad Gahramanli, who is accused of anti-state calls, inciting religious hatred and calling for riots.
