Deputies and scientists opposed the President of ANAS
Baku/22.01.22/Turan: Member of the Milli Majlis, teacher Etibar Aliyev supported the resignatgion of Karim Shukurov, the Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Science. Professor Shukurov announced his resignation from the post of director at a meeting of the Presidium of the Academy, after insulting criticism from the president of ANAS, the former head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, who accused the director of the collapse of the research institution.
Shukurov called the president of ANAS an incompetent and unprofessional, inhumane leader who never once took an interest in the health of the director of the institute during his illness with a coronavirus infection. “I leave aside his lack of professionalism, but the president of ANAS has never read the report of the Institute of History for 2021. If, as you think, the Institute of History worked poorly, where did this report come from then?” Shukurov asked.
I must say with bitterness that the president of ANAS is distinguished not by his ability to intellectually conduct a dialogue, but by inciting intrigues, turning them into the agenda of the Academy, added Kyarim Shukurov in a statement.
"Thank you, Karim muallim. A man of science should be so resolute," deputy Etibar Aliyev assessed the words of the director of the institute on January 21 on his page on a social network.
On January 18, E.Aliyev wrote on FB: "Ramiz Mehdiyev is dragging the National Academy of Sciences into a swamp. He treats the directors of institutes as heads of the district executive power. He intimidates them. R.Mehdiyev, a philosopher by profession, while working in the Presidential Administration, ordered to write books on his behalf, although his own philosophical knowledge is at a very low level. He will not even be able to discuss philosophy with junior researchers of ANAS."
E.Aliyev also writes about the personnel career of Mehdiyev's daughter and wife at the Baku State University. Behind the success of these people is the influence of R. Mehdiyev on the leadership of BSU.
In a telephone conversation with Turan, the deputy confirmed his opinion, reflected in FB.
On January 20, deputy Fazail Agamaly called on R. Mehdiyev to leave the post of president of ANAS: "It is enough; take your coat and leave," the deputy urged Mehdiyev, speaking in defense of the director of the Institute of History.
The head of the department of the Institute of Linguistics of ANAS Idris Abbasov also made a statement in the press. According to him, he informed the president of the Academy about financial embezzlement at the Institute of Linguistics, about plagiarism among scientists at the Institute of Linguistics. Tusi. But investigations on his accusations are not carried out in ANAS.
Usually, Ramiz Mehdiyev quickly responds on the website of ANAS. So far, the statement of the President of ANAS has not been published on the website science.gov.az. It is not possible to contact the President of the Academy. -0-

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
