Iran and Azerbaijan discuss strategic partnership in Tehran
Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian and Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev discussed strengthening bilateral relations in the economic sphere during a meeting in Tehran on 21 January.
Pezeshkian emphasised the importance of cooperation with Azerbaijan and expansion of mutual ties, IRNA reported.
Mustafayev conveyed greetings from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Pezeshkian and noted ‘positive changes that have taken place in recent months under the leadership of the new Iranian President’.
Mustafayev also emphasised Iran's importance in ensuring peace and stability in the region and presented a report on the bilateral relations in the transport and energy exchange.
He concluded by conveying President Aliyev's invitation to Pezeshkian to visit Azerbaijan to ‘deepen the strategic partnership of the two countries’.
It is worth recalling that Mustafayev is in Tehran to participate in the 16th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Iran Intergovernmental Commission.
