Elchin Ismayillis Arrest Prolonged
Baku / 27.05.17 / Turan: The Nasimi district court of Baku extended the arrest of the journalist Elchin Ismayilli until 12 September.
As the lawyer Elchin Sadygov told Turan, there are no sufficient grounds for keeping the journalist in custody. Moreover, no investigative actions are being taken against him.
Recall that the independent journalist Elchin Ismayilli was detained on February 17, and the next day he was arrested on charges of extortion and abuse of office (articles 182 and 308 of the Criminal Code).
The real reason for the arrest was criticism of local authorities. The journalist himself rejected all accusations, calling them a revenge for criticizing corruption and lawlessness in the town of Ismayilli. -06D--
