Elchin Sadigov: Witnesses at Giyas Ibrahimov`s Trial Give Contradictory Evidence
The Baku Court of Grave Crimes on September 29 continued the trial of a young activist Giyas Ibrahimov, accused of drug trafficking.
During the meeting, hearing the testimony of the witnesses was continued.
According to the lawyer Elchin Sadigov, the trial testified three police officers and two witnesses.
Police said that Ibrahimov was arrested on the basis of operative information about the presence of drugs that he allegedly acquired with the intent to sell.
At the same time they deny the application of physical violence against the activist during the arrest.
The witnesses testified about the seizure of drugs from Ibrahimov's apartment.
"The witness statements were contradictory. To our questions they did not give clear answers. In the final speech for the defense, we will thoroughly express this attitude," Sadigov said.
According to him, it is necessary to hear three witnesses, then the judicial inquiry will be completed.
The hearing will continue on October 4.
* Recall that Giyas Ibrahimov and Bayram Mammadov were arrested on May 10 on charges of drug trafficking. They reject the accusation and say they were arrested in connection with the graffiti made on the monument to Heydar Aliyev: "Congratulations on slavery holiday!" and "Down with the system!".
The investigation against Mammadov continues. -16 / 36D-

Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
