Executive Secretary of REAL Questioned in Prosecutor General`s Office
The Executive Secretary of the movement Republican Alternative (REAL) Natig Jafarli on Monday was questioned by the Investigation Department for Serious Crimes of the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan for three hours. He was accompanied by the lawyer Javad Javadov.
Jafarli told Turan he was inquired about an employee of the Iranian Embassy visiting the movement’s office. “We were interrogated because of false and defamatory publications. Before me they also interviewed a member of the Board, Azer Gasimli. This is a continuation of pressure on REAL after the arrest of its leader, Ilgar Mamedov,” Jafarli said.
It should be noted that in respect of Jafarli also continuing is the investigation, which began in August, when the leadership of REAL was accused of receiving funding from Western bodies. The case is not closed. Jafarli is periodically called in for questioning and he is banned from leaving Baku.
Recall that on January 27 the prosecutor's office announced the beginning of an investigation on the reports of the receipt of money by REAL from an Iranian diplomat. This "sensation" was published by Eynulla Fatullayev on his website. -06D-
