Explosion in residential building in Sumgait, one person dead
Sergey Valentinovich Trukhin (born 1958) died as a result of an explosion in a five-story residential building in the city of Sumgait. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, during an inspection of the apartment, sappers and rescuers retrieved three 23-mm ammunition units. The cause of the explosion has not been specified in the report. An investigation is underway.

According to the Working Group of the State Commission on the Fight Against Drug Addiction, 799 people have been infected with AIDS in Azerbaijan during the first 7 months of 2024. Of these, 789 are Azerbaijani citizens, and 13 are foreigners. Among Azerbaijani citizens, 43% of the infected individuals are drug users. According to the Republican AIDS Center, the country has observed a decrease in the number of new AIDS infections among drug-dependent individuals.
