Cloudy weather without  precipitation is expected in  Baku and the Absheron Peninsula  on August 17; and  the southwest wind. The daytime temperature will range from +28 to +32 degrees Celsius. Humidity will be 60-70% at night and 40-50% during the day. Heavy rain with thunderstorms  is expected in some  regions of the country. The wind will be from the east. In lowland areas, temperatures will range from +30 to +35 degrees Celsius, while in the mountains, temperatures will be between +15 and +19 degrees Celsius.

As of July 2024, the population of Azerbaijan reached 10,200,013 people, an increase of 19,243 from the beginning of the year, according to official data. This 0.2 percent growth reflects a stable yet modest rise, with the population density now standing at 118 people per square kilometer.

According to the Working Group of the State Commission on the Fight Against Drug Addiction, 799 people have been infected with AIDS in Azerbaijan during the first 7 months of 2024. Of these, 789 are Azerbaijani citizens, and 13 are foreigners. Among Azerbaijani citizens, 43% of the infected individuals are drug users. According to the Republican AIDS Center, the country has observed a decrease in the number of new AIDS infections among drug-dependent individuals.

A group of Azerbaijani public figures has called for the unification of Turkic efforts to combat Armenian nationalism, citing ethnic cleansing in the South Caucasus and Central Asia. The statement was made during a conference titled "Return to Western Azerbaijan and the Turkic World," held in Tashkent, where Azerbaijani speakers addressed Uzbek officials, foreign guests, and the public regarding the historical injustices faced by Turks in the region.
