On Monday, the fire continued at the village Tirjan of the Ismayilli region located within the Shahdag National Park. Trees and bushes burned in the mountainous part of the village, according to the MOE. To extinguish the fire the authorities involved machinery, firemen and 2 helicopters.
The Ministry of Environment, in turn, said that because of the dry and windy weather, the area covered by the fire has grown. On Monday morning, the fire was localized, but 2 helicopters of MOE were called for full fire fighting.
According to the Ministry of Environment, the fire occurred because of the carelessness of citizens, picking berries in the woods. Therefore, the administration of the National Park intends to appeal to the law enforcement authorities to identify and bring to justice those responsible for the fire.
