Baku/02.08.21/Turan: A fire broke out in a forest zone near the village of Honuba, Yardimli region (292 km south of Baku), the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan reports.
The fire-extinguishing units were involved in the fire protection units of the Special Risk Rescue Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the personnel of the South Regional Center of this department, as well as employees of the Forestry Center of the Ministry of Ecology and local residents.
According to preliminary information, shrubs, dry leaves and stumps are burning on an area of 15 hectares.
The fire began in a mountainous area with difficult terrain. Prompt and urgent measures are being taken to extinguish the flame, according to a press release from the Ministry of Emergencies. — 06D-

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
