Former chief of International Bank denies having stolen 4 billion
Baku/09.02.19/Turan: On Monday, the Baku Serious Crimes Court held a regular meeting in the case of former chief of the International Bank of the country Jahangir Hajiyev and other persons.
Today, Jahangir Hajiyev and his companion, former deputy Dunyamin Khalilov made the last word.
Hajiyev denied allegations that he had appropriated $ 4 billion of bank funds and asked to justify him.
Ex-deputy Khalilov said that he also did not appropriate the bank"s funds, and the loans received were invested in projects abroad.
The court has retired for sentencing. The trial was postponed indefinitely.
Earlier, the state prosecutor requested to sentence Hajiyev to 17 years in prison, taking into account the previous term of imprisonment (15 years).
The prosecutor asked to sentence Khalilov to 15 years and 9 months, also taking into account the previous term (13 years).
According to the investigation, in 2001-2015. Hajiyev ordered the purchase in various countries the bills of $ 3.4 billion and 987 million euros.
Khalilov and several others were participants in illegal financial transactions and illegal loans, which inflicted 4.7 billion manat to the Interbank.
At the first trial in 2016, Hajiyev was sentenced to 15 years, and Khalilov to 13 years in prison. -02D-
