Georgian border guards detained 12 kg of gold from Azerbaijan
Azerbaijani citizens were arrested while attempting to smuggle in Georgia 12 kg of the highest standard gold and $131950, according to Novosti-Georgia, citing the Ministry of Finance Investigation Service of Georgia.
The illegal cargo of gold bullion was detained at a checkpoint "Red Bridge" (the Georgian-Azerbaijani border) and is estimated at $490,000.
Two Azerbaijanis were trying to hide the gold and dollars in the car. Violators have been arrested, gold and money seized as evidence. A lawsuit has been filed, and they can be imprisoned from 8 to 11 years.
In February of this year in Istanbul was detained a car with two Azerbaijanis, carrying 39 gold bars weighing more than 33 kg. Until now, there is no official explanation of this. -0-

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported no information about any destruction or casualties as a result of the earthquakes.
