Health Condition of Bayram Mammadov Sharply Deteriorated
Baku / 07.04.19 / Turan: The state of health of the NIDA civil movement member Bayram Mammadov subjected to administrative punishment in the form of the arrest has sharply deteriorated. This was stated by the organization on April 7.
"After Bayram Mammadov was subjected to physical pressure in the administrative detention center, he had serious health problems. According to the information of people who left the detention center after serving their sentence, Bayram Mammadov received bad blows on the head and had bad headaches in the last few days. "His head is dizzy and Bayram has sickness and vomiting every evening. Judging by the signs, he has a brain concussion," the document says.
The authors believe that Mammadov will not be able to receive quality medical care in the police facility. "Moreover, there is a likelihood of repetition of the ill-treatment. We demand the immediate release of Bayram and his transfer to the hospital," the statement concluded.
Recall that Bayram Mammadov was arrested for 30 days on March 29 on charges of insubordination to the police. The arrest took place two weeks after Mammadov was pardoned by the head of state. He was serving a 10 year sentence on drug charges. However, the real reason for the arrest, according to human rights activists, was the writing of political slogans on the pedestal of the monument to Heydar Aliyev. -06B-
