Ilgar Mammadov suffers from the absence of normal bed, a lawyer

Seats and beds in the  jail where Ilgar Mammadov is kept do not meet even minimal orthopedic standards, which was the reason for the exacerbation and progresing of osteochondrosis, said a lawyer Javad Javadov, commenting on the  health  of his client, the leader of the movement "REAL" Ilgar Mammadov. The aggravation of the disease occurred last week and it became difficult for him to move about. "Although the pains somewhat weakened, but did not stop. Today he even was late for a meeting with me because he is moving slowly, "Javadov said.

On March 24 Mammadov was examined by specialists of the Medical Service of the Ministry of Justice and diagnosed with acute osteochondrosis. "Bunks and stools in the jail do not meet even the minimum standards. The iron beds are already completely rusty, and there are no backs on the seats.

Prisoners were forced to use the wooden cover to close  holes in beds and somehow sleep on them. But in December 2016 these dictates were taken away from them," said the lawyer. Despite the promises of the representatives of the Ministry of Justice to provide Mamedov with orthopedic bunks and seats, this did not happen.  Mammadov has not been visited yet by representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the lawyer said. Javadov also said that Mammadov demands execution of the decisions of the European Court of Justice and the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in respect of him.

* Ilgar Mammadov was arrested on February 4, 2013 on charges of organizing riots in the Ismayilli region. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison. The European Court of Human Rights found Ilgar Mammadov's arrest politically motivated and decided to release him. However, the Azerbaijani authorities ignore this demand.-- 06С-
