Ilham Aliyev will not give ANS - management of the company
On 15 September the Azerbaijani Supreme Court began consideration of the cassation appeal of ANS TV on depriving it of the right to broadcast. During the meeting it became known that the well-known lawyer Fuad Agayev joined the protection of the rights of the channel.
He said that just today they signed a contract with the company and had not yet become acquainted with the case. The lawyer asked to postpone the meeting and give him two weeks to study the case materials. However, the representative of the National Television and Radio Togrul Mammadov spoke against. In his view, the petition is aimed at artificially delaying the process. However, the court granted the request and postponed the hearing indefinitely.
Meanwhile, the CEO of ANS Mirshahin Agayev told reporters that after the "recent events" he optimistic about the fate of the channel. "We always look forward to the court of justice. We hope that the Azerbaijani court as the embodiment of law and the right to say their word," Agayev said. He also expressed confidence that the President of Azerbaijan "will never surrender ANS».
Agayev is optimistic because the newspaper «Star» that is close to the Turkish authorities wrote recently that the ANS is not involved in the FETO issue.
On July 18 the NBC stopped broadcasting ANS, accusing the channel of the propaganda of terrorism and violence, which resulted in coverage of events in Turkey during the attempted coup, and preparation an interview with a preacher Fethullah Gülen, whom Ankara announced the organizer of the conspiracy.
On July 29 the Baku Court of Appeal granted the appeal of NBC on revocation ANS license. -16 / 06C
