Baku/15.09.23/Turan: In January-August 2023, 7,598 drug-related crimes were detected in Azerbaijan.
According to the report of the working group on combating drug addiction and illicit drug trafficking, 5 tons 804 kg of narcotic and psychotropic substances were seized from illicit trafficking.
These included 1,722 kg of heroin, 3,349 kg of marijuana, 236 kg. opium, 50 kg of hashish, etc.
At that 5,721 people, including 57 foreigners, were brought to criminal responsibility. 191 drug-related crimes were connected to their smuggling. At the same time, 2,531 kg of drugs, 47,726 methadone tablets and over 10 thousand capsules and tablets of other psychotropic substances were seized.
