In January-May 2023, 5,016 crimes in drug trafficking were detected in Azerbaijan
Baku/17.06.23/Turan: In January-May this year, 5,016 crimes in the field of drug trafficking were detected in Azerbaijan.
Of these, 1,707 were related to the illegal sale of drugs, 3185 – the acquisition and possession of drugs, 96 – illegal cultivation of narcotic plants, 28 – other crimes in this area.
These data are provided in the report of the working group of the state commission on combating drugs.
In the reviewed period, 3 tons 765 kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were seized from illicit trafficking, including 1 ton 369 369 kg of heroin, 1 ton 993 kg of marijuana, 139 kg of opium, 44 kg of hashish, 215 kg of psychotropic substances, 2 kg 737 g of other drugs.
Also, 27028 methadone tablets, 4421 capsules and 953 tablets of potent drugs were seized.
3323 people, including 43 foreigners, were brought to criminal responsibility due to the involvement in drug trafficking. 100 crimes were committed as part of groups.
Total value of the seized drugs in the review period is estimated at 157 million 555.000 manats. -06B-
