Aziz Orujov
Interrogated by Prosecutors Office, Mother of Journalist Sent to Intensive Care Unit
Baku / 23.06.17 / Tuarn: Thed mother of the executive director of Internet TV Channel-13 Anar Orujov, Almaz Hasanova was hospitalized in a serious state of health in the intensive care unit of City Hospital No. 2.
Her condition deteriorated sharply during the interrogation in the Investigatory Directorate of Grave Crimes of the Prosecutor General's Office. Turan was informed about this by the wife of the arrested journalist, editor of Channel-13 Lamiya Orujova. If it were not for the timely intervention of the doctors, the 66-year-old woman could have a new stroke, she noted.
Aziz Orujov was arrested administratively for 30 days on May 2. After the expiration of the arrest, the journalist was faced with new charges: under articles 192.2.2 (illegal business with the extraction of large income) and 308.2 (abuse of official powers that entailed grave consequences) of the Criminal Code. The Nasimi court arrested him for 4 months.
Almaz Hasanova was interrogated on June 22 between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. by the investigators Ramig Babayev and Orkhan Babayev.
"The lawyer Alibaba Rzayev and I were not allowed to the prosecutor's office. Almaz Khanum repeatedly insisted on the invitation of a lawyer, but the defense was not allowed to her. About 18.00 Almaz Khanum"s blood pressure and blood sugar sharply raised.
I called an ambulance. When she was taken to hospital, the pressure was 200/120. Timely intervention of doctors saved Almaz Khanum from a repeated stroke, but now her health is at risk," the daughter-in-law said.
In turn, the lawyer Alibaba Rzayev called the actions of the Prosecutor Office"s employees "illegal and unethical".
First, Hasanova was not informed about her being called to testify. Secondly, she had to be warned that by law she had a right to not testify on the case of her son. Third, Hasanova should have been given an opportunity to invite her legal representative.
"I informed Almaz Hasanova in advance that if the call is connected with official testimony, she has a right to invite her representative. However, when Almaz Hasanova began insisting on the invitation of a lawyer, the prosecutors did not allow her to do so, and she was questioned. From such pressure, impudent and illegal behavior of employees of the Public Prosecutor Office, she was greatly upset," Rzayev said. -03B06-

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
