Baku/05.04.22/Turan: An incident was recorded at the Iranian-Azerbaijani border on April 4 at 8:45 pm where one of the border violators was killed.
The Azerbaijani State Border Service reports that six armed infiltrators were spotted by the border guards near the village of Shylaliagali.
The trespassers ignored the border guards' demand to stop and opened fire. One of the infiltrators was killed by return fire, and others took advantage of the darkness to flee back.
The killed man was Iranian citizen Behnam Balai, born in 1996.
A Kalashnikov assault rifle was found on him, along with 32 kg of various drugs in three bags.
A drone was launched to search for and apprehend other intruders, which led to the arrest of another intruder, Iranian national Mohammad Zarehi Taghi.
The incident was reported to the Iranian side. A criminal investigation was opened into the incident. -02D-
