The State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan arrested the former deputy chairman of the Islamic Party Inglab Ahadov on charges of espionage. According to the report of the public relations center of the SSS, Ahadov was attracted to cooperation with the intelligence services of a foreign country in 2011, and performed their orders. Due to reasonable suspicion of espionage of treason Ahadov is prosecuted under the Article 274 ( high treason.) On January 27 by the decision of the court Ahadov was arrested. The report did not specify for which country he worked. The Islamic Party told Turan that Inglab Ahadov resigned in early 2015, and remained only a party member. He was not involved in political activities, and lived in Salyan region. -03B-

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported no information about any destruction or casualties as a result of the earthquakes.
