Law Enforcement Agencies Do Not Comment on Information about Arrest of Group of Entrepreneurs
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor's Office do not comment on the media reports on the arrest of a large number of big entrepreneurs for non-repayment of debts on loans. Initially, the news was reported by Virtualaz.org citing sources in the Interior Ministry. However, at the request of Turan IA, the press service of the Interior Ministry has not confirmed or denied the report. A similar reaction was at the Prosecutor General.
According to unofficial data, we are talking about dozens of people who took large loans from the International Bank of Azerbaijan, when it was led by Jahangir Hajiyev, and did not return the money. These entrepreneurs were arrested and taken to the Office for Combating Organized Crime MIA.
Observers believe that this is not about the arrest, but the elementary requirement to return the loans. Under Jahangir Hajiyev, the debtors apparently felt free, but after the change of leadership in the IBA, they were demanded to repay the debts.
It is possible that after the return of the money, the detainees will be released and criminal cases will not be filed. The near future will show how realistic this scenario is.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first major corruption scandal in recent days. So last week the Director of the State Flag Square Office Rashad Mammadov was removed from his position. The official reason for the dismissal was not named. However, according to unofficial reports, he and his partners were involved in the theft of large sums in the works on the reconstruction and construction of various facilities. According to unconfirmed reports, he has been brought to justice. -02B-
