Baku/13.07.17/Turan: A lawsuit has been filed against Hasan Ibrahimov, the father of young activist Giyas Ibrahimov, who was imprisoned under the Article 289.2 (not respect for the judge,) Turan was told by Hasan Ibrahimov himself. Today he gave testimony in the Ministry of Justice's Department of Justice.

On May 10, 2016, the members of the NİDA Movement, Giyas Ibrahimov and Bayram Mammadov, were arrested after writing political slogans on the monument to Heydar Aliyev. However, they were accused of drug-related crimes related to drug trafficking and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.

Amnesty International has declared both "prisoners of conscience" because it believes that the accusation against them is fabricated. The authorities do not consider them political prisoners, stating that they are punished "for a specific criminal act."

On June 5 this year, the Baku Court of Appeal did not satisfy the complaint of Giyas Ibrahimov. There was an incident at this court. Giyas Ibrahimov, during the state prosecutor's speech, repeatedly pointed to Judge Vugar Mammadov with his hands, that he could not hear anything while in a glass cage. However, the judge did not give any importance to this. Giyas Ibrahimov, in protest, tore off the microphone that was in the cage. Judicial warders entered the cage and handcuffed Ibrahimov. It seems that this was done rudely, as the traces of the defendant's blood were visible on the bench. At this time, his father Hasan Ibrahimov, who was in the hall, expressed his discontent and turning to the judges said that the day would come when "these handcuffs will snap into the hands of your sons."

Hasan Ibgarimov reminded the judges that Enver Seyidov, Judge of the Court for Serious Crimes, sentenced Giyas Ibrahimov to 10 years of imprisonment and a few days after the verdict, he suffered a stroke. He told the judges that this could happen to them. After this, the court guards evicted Hasan Ibrahimov out of the courtroom.

Hasan Ibrahimov believes that the criminal case against him was initiated precisely in connection with this incident.

"I was interrogated, claiming that I insulted the judges," said Hasan Ibrahimov. "I was presented with a videotape of what happened in the courtroom. I am for justice, if it is my guilt, I am ready to be punished. But the law must be the same for everyone. When Giyas was detained, the lawyer repeatedly asked to present the available videotaping to the court, but this was not done. The law is manipulated as they want." Hasan Ibrahimov complained that his son was unjustifiably put in a punishment cell and was not allowed to contact the house by phone. Hasan Ibrahimov will again be summoned for interrogation. -03B04-
